Organized as part of the 2014 World Water Week of the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), this seminar will present a collaborative programme to support the use of Earth Observation (EO) for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) by the UN Development Programme (UNDP) Capacity Development in Sustainable Water Management network (Cap-Net) and the European Space Agency's (ESA) TIGER initiative. The seminar will: showcase capacity-development activities in the areas of EO and IWRM in Africa, including an open source observation system and training material; assess the applicability of the programme to other regions; and discuss how EO can support energy-relevant aspects of IWRM.
