The second session of the Second World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments will meet during the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders and 5th World Congress, which is meeting from 12-15 October in Bogota, Colombia. The Assembly is the mechanism through which the local and regional government constituency will provide official inputs to the New Urban Agenda that will be adopted at the UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III), which will convene in Quito, Ecuador, the 17-20 October 2016. The Second Assembly is a three-part process being held in the lead up to Habitat III. The meeting is being convened by the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments, a coordination mechanism set up in 2013 at the initiative of the President of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) and the Mayor of Istanbul, Kadir Topbaş.
