Rural-Urban Linkages and the Key Role of Subnational Governments in the Achievement of the SDGs

Held during the Global Climate Action Summit (GCAS) in San Francisco, US, this event will explore the potential of regional governments in providing for resilient and sustainable communities through adaptation actions that are in line with the achievement of the SDGs. It will show how regional governments are addressing the nexus between rural and urban environments, a condition for effective integration of adaptation and sustainable development.

Regional government representatives will discuss successful experiences and challenges regarding the integration of adaptation actions with sustainable development. The event will also highlight the potential of regional governments in developing effective rural-urban linkages and sustainable land use mechanisms, as well as the role of international networks and initiatives in this regard.

The event is organized by the Network of Regional Governments for Sustainable Development (nrg4SD).
