The Executive Committee of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage (Excom) will resume its work developing a draft initial two-year workplan during a continuation of its initial meeting, which was held 25-28 March 2014. The primary objective of the meeting will be to complete the draft workplan for consideration by Parties at the 41st sessions of the subsidiary bodies (SB 41) in December 2014. The Excom was mandated by the 19th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 19) to the UNFCCC to guide the implementation of the functions of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage. The composition and procedures of the Executive Committee will be decided at COP 20 in December 2014. The resumed initial meeting scheduled to take place on 31 July and 1 August has been postponed to a later date, exact dates to be confirmed.
