The overarching goal of this meeting is to improve the governance of the Network of Indigenous and Local Communities for the Sustainable Management of Forest Ecosystems in Central Africa (REPALEAC), by strengthening the participation of local people in biodiversity conservation and the management of Central African forests and natural resources. Specific objectives also include the adoption of the three-year strategic plan 2013-2015 and road-map, the appointment of new members to the Regional Coordination office, and to inform and educate indigenous peoples on the mechanisms and processes of APA and REDD+.
