The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), together with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and CEPT University in Gujarat, India, is organizing this meeting for transport policy makers, municipal officials and representatives of international organisations in the region. The meeting is part of ESCAP's work in promoting sustainable and inclusive transport policies. The meeting will share global, regional and national experiences of: planning and developing urban transportation systems and Bus Rapid Transit Systems (BRTS); promoting safety, security and environmental values; managing Transit Oriented Development (TOD) and local accessibility; and improving institutional arrangements and financing for sustainable transport development. The meeting is organized in conjunction with the Second Asia BRTS Conference.
