The UN Development Programme (UNDP) and Global Environment Facility (GEF) Project on Lake Tanganyika will organize a meeting, in collaboration with the Lake Tanganyika Authority (LTA) and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), to bring together key stakeholders in the monitoring and control of invasive species. The meeting is part of the collaborative efforts by the riparian countries Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania and Zambia to address the threats of invasive species. As part of the workshop, stakeholders from the four countries will review known invasive species and risks in the basin, and discuss ways to monitor, manage and control existing or possible future invasive species threats.
