Post-2015 Education E-discussion: Innovate to Educate Girls and Gender Sensitivity

This e-discussion examines innovating through gender sensitivity in education. The discussion is motivated by the belief that gender sensitization is critical to achieving gender equity, rather than equality, in education. The conversation will focus on the following guiding questions: What barriers are there to gender sensitivity in education and why are girls less likely to attend school? How can you seek community support for efforts to promote gender sensitivity in education and empowering girls? What methods and tools can be used to work with school administration and teachers to encourage gender sensitivity? Participants are also encouraged to share strategies adopted by young people at a community level that yielded gender transformative outcomes, as well as stories about strategies that have not worked. Responses from practitioners on non-formal and non-institutionalized education are particularly welcome. Sumaya Saluja, Youth Advocacy Group, the Global First Initiative, and Elizabeth Woodfield, Girls' Globe, serve as the discussion moderators.
