Polar Symposium: From Arctic to Antarctic

The “Polar Symposium: from Arctic to Antarctic” will convene leading scientists to discuss how, how fast, and in what ways, changes in the Earth's polar regions are affecting the Earth's climate, living and social systems and how this concerns everyone.

The Symposium is being organized by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation with the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) and the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) as co-conveners, in collaboration with the Oceanographic Institute, Prince Albert I of Monaco Foundation, the International Cryosphere Climate Initiative (ICCI), and the UN Decade for Ocean Science for Sustainable development. It aims to inform management, policies and collective action in the poles and feed into processes at international and regional levels.

The Symposium will consist of four themed sessions, on: understanding changes in the poles; contribution of polar changes to the global climate; effects of polar changes upon global human societies & economies; and management responses in the face of uncertainties. It will take place both in-person and online.
