Operationalization of the 2030 Agenda for Africa’s Industrialization

This high-level event will bring together African leaders, heads of UN agencies and other senior officials and development actors to discuss concrete partnerships for the operationalization of the 2030 Agenda in Africa, with a focus on proposed Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9 on “resilient infrastructure, inclusive and sustainable industrialization and innovation”. Participants will discuss how to promote and implement stronger regional, inter-regional and global cooperation for inclusive and sustainable industrial development (ISID) and develop recommendations for mechanisms to facilitate such cooperation, including through new partnership models and South-South cooperation. The UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is organizing this high-level event in coordination with the African Union Commission (AUC), the Office of the Special Advisor on Africa (OSAA) and the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). The event will take place on the sidelines of the UN Summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda.
