One Forest Summit

The One Forest Summit will be an opportunity to make progress and renew collective ambition towards preservation and sustainable management of forests, which are critical to tackling the most pressing interrelated global challenges, at the forefront of which are climate change and biodiversity loss.

The Summit was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron and Gabonese President Ali Bongo at the UN Climate Change Conference 2022 (UNFCCC COP 27). The promotion of a North-South solidarity, central to protecting these vital reserves, will also be a key element of the Summit.

The One Forest Summit aims to lead to new commitments and concrete initiatives on:

  • advancing knowledge and promoting scientific cooperation on forest ecosystems;
  • fostering sustainable value chains in the forestry sector; and
  • unlocking innovative sources of financing including market-based biodiversity conservation solutions.
