This event will officially kick off the OECD Initiative on Water Governance, which aims to advance the global water governance agenda and build upon water governance work began at the Sixth World Water Forum, which was held in Marseille, France, from 12-17 March 2012, with the overall goal of maintaining continuous cooperation between World Water Fora. The Initiative aims to: establish a policy forum on water governance that will convene twice a year; design water governance guidelines or principles; create an international observatory on water governance; and develop a web portal to facilitate discussion among a wide range of stakeholders. Members of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Initiative on Water Governance plan to meet twice a year to share progress and experience on water governance.
