Ninth Joint AUC-ECA Annual Meetings

The ninth Joint African Union Commission (AUC) and UN Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) Annual Meetings of the AU Conference of Ministers of the Economy and Finance and UNECA Conference of African Ministers of Finance, Planning and Economic Development will convene under the theme, ‘Towards an Integrated and Coherent Approach to Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation of Agenda 2063 and the SDGs'. The Conference will discuss how countries can establish common implementation and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks, with a focus on the policies and institutions needed to transform Africa's economies and achieve Agenda 2063 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at national, regional and continental levels. Ministers are expected to share strategies for promoting sustainable long-term growth while simultaneously addressing inequality, reducing poverty and improving the living standard for all Africans. The meeting will focus on four thematic areas: harmonization, synergies and sensitization; integration of Agenda 2063 and the 2030 Agenda into national development plans and a results framework; monitoring and evaluation; and financing, including the operationalization of domestic resource mobilization (DRM) strategies. The meeting is expected to result in recommendations on a unified approach for the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Agenda 2063 and the 2030 Agenda, as well as guidance on developing such an approach.
