New Opportunities from Natural Wealth Management

Government officials and private sector representatives from the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) will discuss the current status of green growth in the region and how successful green economy initiatives can be scaled up. The GMS is made up of six countries: Cambodia, the People's Republic of China, the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam. Topics will include clean technology, approaches for valuing natural capital, and financial instruments to stimulate ecologically-smart and socially responsible investments. The event will also see the launch of the ‘GMS Green Economy Platform,' which will provide a space for ongoing dialogue between the public and private sectors to forge partnerships, discuss regulatory reforms and identify practical opportunities for scaling up green growth approaches. The event is an initiative of the Offering Sustainable Land-use Options Consortium (OSLO) and is jointly organized by the Asian Development Bank's GMS Core Environment Program, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the Global Mechanism of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), the Poverty Environment Initiative (PEI) of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Development Programme (UNDP), and WWF-Greater Mekong, with support from the Government of Norway.
