With financial support from Switzerland, and co-sponsored by India and the Republic of Korea, this meeting will bring together, among others, members of the Bureau of the Conference of the Parties (COP), the Chair of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA) and the incoming COP President, as well as representatives of international organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), indigenous and local communities (ILCs), and the scientific community. Participants will discuss the implementation of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020, including through innovative partnerships, and consider, inter alia: national-level implementation; actions that might be taken at the international level to help advance achievement of the Strategic Plan; and how to mainstream biodiversity in other international discussions, for instance, in the post-2015 development agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) process.
