Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate

The Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate (MEF) will convene to galvanize efforts needed to tackle the climate crisis and keep a 1.5°C limit on warming within reach.

This meeting of the Forum is being convened by US President Joe Biden and will provide an opportunity for world leaders to push efforts aimed at accelerating progress in four key areas: decarbonizing energy; ending deforestation of the Amazon and other critical forests; tackling potent, non-CO2 climate pollutants; and advancing carbon management.

The major economies that compose the MEF together account for roughly 80% of global gross domestic product (GDP) and global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
