Local Climate Solutions for Africa (LoCS4Africa) 2020

The Local Climate Solutions for Africa (LoCS4Africa) 2020 will be held on the theme “Financing for Change,” and aim to respond to the growing acknowledgement worldwide that, to tackle climate change, city-scale finance must be mobilised.

The purpose of the Local Climate Solutions for Africa (LoCS4Africa) congress series is to strengthen cooperation that will lead to significant climate action. To achieve this, improved cooperation between local, regional and national governments is essential, as well as with the private sector, community based organisations, academia and researchers. Each congress provides space to exchange new visions and strategies for climate action in Africa.

This congress, the 5th in the series, will provide a platform for cities from across Africa to convene remotely, and progress these discussions with national government representatives, private sector leaders, community champions and top academics and researchers.

The congress is organized by ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, in partnership with the Covenant of Mayors in Sub-Saharan Africa and others. It is co-hosted by the Government of Rwanda, the City of Kigali and the Rwandan Association of Local Government Authorities (RALGA).
