Linking Open Data to Accelerate Low-Carbon Development

This workshop will seek to assist public organizations in taking necessary steps to open up their data sets and provide them in a machine-readable and standardized format, and to maximize interconnections between knowledge brokers and providers. Specifically, the workshop will aim to: introduce participants to the basics and concepts behind Linked Open Data; highlight successful examples (Open Government Data Portals, reegle, OpenEI); discuss common concerns, legal issues and licensing questions; provide concrete insights on “how to do it;” and agree on what steps would be feasible and appropriate to take this agenda forward in the clean development arena. This one-day workshop is for decision makers in clean energy organizations. Participation is limited, contact organizers to inquire about availability of slots. The workshop is organized by the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) with the support of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Masdar Institute and the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
