The theme of Land Day 5 is “Achieving Zero Net Land Degradation: Impacts on Climate Change Issues.” This “Day” will be convened in parallel to the Durban Climate Change Conference as part of the Rio Conventions Pavilion. Panel discussions will consider the following questions: can the world afford not to go land degradation neutral?; how will land degradation neutrality impact climate change issues such as adaptation, mitigation, and resilience building?; and potential contribution of ‘zero net land degradation target’ in driving the synergy agenda at all levels: best practices and successful case studies. Organizers include the UNCCD Secretariat and ICRAF.
