The 61st Session of the International Tropical Timber Council (ITTC-61) and Sessions of the Associated Committees will continue the work of the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) and the possible renegotiation of the International Tropical Timber Agreement (ITTA). ITTC-59 began discussions on whether to extend the ITTA to 2029.
The ITTC is the governing body of the ITTO. It meets once a year to discuss wide-ranging issues of interest to members, including those related to the legal trade of tropical timber and the sustainable management of tropical forests. Council sessions are open to official delegates and accredited observers.
Among other topics, the Council is expected to discuss the Preparatory Working Group (PWG) report and deliverables regarding the renegotiation of the ITTA, and ITTO cooperation and collaboration with other bodies.
