The proposal to hold this Workshop was first discussed during the XI Annual Meeting of Canada/Mexico/US Trilateral Committee for Wildlife & Ecosystem Conservation and Management, and was approved by the 14th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
