International Day of South-South Cooperation 2024

The International Day of South-South Cooperation, held annually on 12 September, offers an opportunity for members to reaffirm the value and benefit offered by South-South cooperation. Through South-South collaboration, developing countries share knowledge, skills, expertise, and resources to meet their development goals.

The UN General Assembly (UNGA), as part of decision 58/220 to declare the International Day of South-South Cooperation, has urged relevant UN organizations and multilateral institutions to intensify their efforts to mainstream the use of South-South cooperation in designing, formulating, and implementing their regular programmes. The UN Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) promotes and facilitates South-South and triangular cooperation for development on a global and UN system-wide basis.
