International Conference on Biodiversity

Organized by the Government of France and sponsored by UNESCO, this conference is convened in response to an announcement made by President Jacques Chirac at the G8 summit in June 2003. The conference seeks to contribute to ongoing global efforts to curb the loss of biodiversity by 2010, as well as ensure the long term conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits of genetic resources.
