This workshop is organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in collaboration with the UN Environment Programme – World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC), with financial support from Japan. Through the inter-regional workshop, the CBD and UNEP-WCMC aim to explore the synergies between the Aichi Biodiversity Targets and objectives of REDD+ to develop a coherent approach to landscape planning processes. The workshop aims to support Parties in: increasing coordination between REDD+ and CBD focal points through sharing experiences and knowledge; integrating REDD+ actions into updated National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs) and mainstreaming into broader national policies; and demonstrating the appropriate data gathering processes, assessments, policies and other planning tools for implementing a coherent approach to REDD+ and NBSAPs. The workshop will take place back-to-back with the 'Capacity-Building Workshop for Mesoamerica on Ecosystem Conservation and Restoration.'
