The Organization of American States (OAS) will host the Council of the Inter-American Biodiversity Information Network (IABIN). IABIN is a consolidated Internet-based forum for technical and scientific cooperation between the 34 OAS member countries aiming to improve the accessibility, completeness and interoperability of biodiversity databases. Phase I of IABIN was funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the World Bank, with the OAS serving as executing agency. This Council meeting will assess the Network's accomplishments and lesson learned, review its status, and prepare for Phase II, including coordinate fundraising and production of a vision statement 2012-2015.
