This meeting is organized by the UN Environment Programme, the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the League of Arab States, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The objective of the workshop is to identify reforms necessary to address the emerging challenges that hinder the sustainable development process in the Arab region and to consider sustainable development governance internationally. During the three-day meeting, experts will be assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the existing institutional frameworks in the Arab region at both national and regional levels, with the aim of defining the most appropriate mechanisms that improve the sustainable development governance system.
