IGA Workshop: Globally Consistent Classification for Geothermal Energy Resources

The aim of this workshop, organized by the International Geothermal Association (IGA), will be to find expert volunteers to develop specifications for classifying geothermal resources. IGA and the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) have agreed to develop technology-specific rules to apply the UN Framework for Fossil Energy and Mineral Reserves and Resources 2009 (UNFC-2009) to geothermal resources. IGA is seeking individuals to form a working group to draft these specifications, with targeted participants including volunteers from governments, international organizations, industry, investors, professional societies, the academia and other stakeholders engaged in activities related to the classification and reporting of geothermal resources. The workshop is supported by the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP) of the World Bank, and will be held at the IRENA Office in Bonn, Germany.
