HLPF 2016 Side Event: Financing for Development to Ensure that No One is Left Behind

The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is organizing a lunchtime event at the 2016 High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York, on the theme, 'Financing for Development to Ensure that No One is Left Behind'. High-level participants, including finance ministers and senior ministers from the Asia-Pacific region alongside other leaders from the private sector and civil society, will take part in a panel discussion moderated by Shamshad Akhtar, ESCAP Executive Secretary. Oh Joon (Republic of Korea), President of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), will deliver welcome remarks. The panel will discuss innovative financing sources, modalities and priorities in the Asia and the Pacific region for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development, including regional tax cooperation, the role and framework of the proposed Asia-Pacific Tax Forum, and enhancing financial inclusion.
