This High-Level Symposium is being organized by the UNCSD (Rio+20) Secretariat and China, and is intended to provide an opportunity for in-depth discussions among government officials, experts, and representatives from the UN system and Major Groups, on the objective and two themes of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, with a view to formulating concrete proposals as a contribution to the preparation of the Conference. Invitations will be sent to high-level officials representing developing countries, developed countries and countries with economies in transition. A high-level official plus a senior advisor formula will be followed. In addition to high-level officials and senior level advisors, leading international experts and representatives from the UN system and Major Groups will also be invited.
