High-level Conference of Middle-Income Countries

Aiming to create “networks for prosperity,” this conference will concentrate on the role and position of middle-income countries in regional and global development issues, and provide inputs to the ongoing debate on the post-2015 development framework regarding: inclusive growth and prosperity; sustainability and green industry; and financing for sustainable economic development. Preparatory meetings and consultations are taking place in Vienna, New York, Washington DC and Geneva. In addition, UNIDO and respective member states are organizing regional preparatory meetings to elaborate on key challenges in a regional context and to identify key priorities to be considered for the High-Level Conference. The regional meetings are scheduled as follows: Latin American and Caribbean Region, 13 May 2013, Mexico City, Mexico; CIS, Eastern and Southern Europe, 16-17 May 2013, Minsk, Belarus; and Arab Region, 23 May 2013, Amman, Jordan. In collaboration with Center for Strategic & International Studies (CSIS), a conference on Network Governance, Knowledge Networking, and the Global Development Potential of Middle-Income Countries will be held on 16 May in Washington DC.
