Harnessing Data by Citizens for Public Policy and SDG Monitoring: A Conceptual Framework

The expert group meeting on the theme, ‘Harnessing Data by Citizens for Public Policy and SDG Monitoring: A Conceptual Framework,’ will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, in November 2022. The meeting will consider how citizens can be engaged in producing data and making an impact on policy.

Organized by the UN Statistics Division, the meeting will also:

  • discuss the possibility of a conceptual framework for engaging citizens in data production and use, and in filling SDG data gap, including various concepts and definitions and key attributes in engaging citizens in the entire data value chain; 
  • review the challenges of integrating these data into official statistics and policy processes; and
  • discuss how the international community can support citizen engagement.
