Going Beyond the Meter: Inclusive Energy Solutions in South Asia

This sub-regional workshop will provide the opportunity for lateral learning, through exchanging experiences and showcasing good practices in inclusive solutions, with a focus on gender equity, to address challenges faced in energy sector development in South Asia. More specifically, the workshop will enable participants to: share good practices and solutions on how changes in delivery mechanisms to improve access can result in greater gender equality and social inclusion, which can enhance the energy sector project effectiveness; exchange and learn from experiences and practices in pro-poor, gender and socially-inclusive energy sector policy development, project design, development and implementation; and enhance capacity to integrate pro-poor, gender and social equity considerations in energy sector policy and programmes in a systematic and sustainable manner. Participants will include decision makers, academics, representatives from the private sector, Asian Development Bank (ADB) staff, and non-government organizations involved in gender and energy issues.
