Global WOPs Congress and GWOPA General Assembly

The Global Water Operators' Partnerships Alliance (GWOPA) will hold its Second Global WOPs Congress and GWOPA General Assembly under the theme ‘Fostering Cooperation between Water Operators'. GWOPA's bi-annual global forum aims to share information and experience on WOPs and bring together WOPs practitioners, utilities, donors, knowledge institutions and other stakeholders to advance knowledge and initiate action on WOPs. The forum includes plenary sessions, high level panels on utilities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), roundtables on WOPs and finance, capacity development for water management, risk reduction and regional issues, and a networking fair. The GWOPA General Assembly will be held on the third day of the Congress to renew GWOPA's Steering Committee. WOPs are peer-support exchanges between water or sanitation operators that aim to strengthen capacity. The UN Secretary General's Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation (UNSGAB) coined the term WOPs in its 2006 Hashimoto Action Plan, which called for scaling up WOPs globally.
