This workshop is organized by the Global Environment Facility's (GEF) Caribbean Regional Fund for Wastewater Management (CReW), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and several Caribbean governments. The workshop seeks to provide participants from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and the environmental, finance and utility sectors in CReW’s 13 participating countries (Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Panama, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago) with an understanding of the operation of revolving funds, with particular reference to developing country experiences and their application to wastewater treatment projects in the Caribbean. The workshop will also assist pilot countries in the operation and design of national funding mechanisms to be developed under the GEF CReW Project. Finally, the workshop aims to promote a network of expertise to facilitate the replication and/or development of similar funding mechanisms in other non-pilot Caribbean countries.
