First Global Conference of Inter-agency Platform for Collaboration on Tax

The Inter-agency Platform for Collaboration on Tax plans to hold its first global conference on the theme of 'Taxation and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)'. The conference aims to take forward the global dialogue on the role of tax in achieving the SDGs, and seek country insights on relevant challenges and opportunities. Thematic areas tentatively include: Domestic resource mobilization and the State; Role of tax in supporting sustainable economic growth, investment and trade; Tax and the social dimension: addressing poverty, inequality and health; Tax capacity development; and Tax cooperation and the SDGs. The concept note and agenda are under consideration. The Platform is a joint initiative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the UN and the World Bank Group, aiming to facilitate cooperation among the organizations.
