The first African Ministerial Forum on Housing and Urban Development (AMFHUD), which will meet under the theme ‘City Policies and Sustainable Development,' will complement the preparatory process in advance of the UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) to be held in Quito, Ecuador from 17-20 October 2016. It will address, on a regional scale, the issue of cities and their development and sustainability in Africa. It will also provide Morocco with the opportunity to showcase its approach to promoting the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and in particular implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 11 (SDG 11), to “make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.” The event will also address urban sustainability and climate change. The meeting is being organized by the Ministry of Habitat and City Policy and UN-Habitat.
