Fifth IPSI Global Conference (IPSI-5)

The Fifth International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI) Global Conference (IPSI-5) will be held from 4-5 October 2014 in Pyeongchang, Republic of Korea. The conference will be held back-to-back with the twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 12) as a chance for many IPSI members and non-members alike to discuss ways to collaborate and promote the principles of the Satoyama Initiative and its role in sustainable development and biodiversity. IPSI-5 is co-organized by the Ministry of Environment, the Republic of Korea, and the IPSI Secretariat, hosted by the UN University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS). The Assembly on 5 October is open only to IPSI members. The Public Forum from 9:00 to 13:00 on 4 October is open to the general public, with the theme 'Furthering action in production landscapes and seascapes for sustainable development,' and featuring presentations from a number of experts working in capacity building and supporting livelihoods for sustainable development. Please note that attendees must be registered for CBD COP 12 in order to have access to the conference venues.
