FAO Technical Meeting on the Green Negotiated Territorial Development Approach (GreeNTD)

This meeting will bring together staff from various Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) Units and a small group of external experts to discuss a proposed analytical framework on Green Negotiated Territorial Development (GreeNTD) and how it can be applied to support bottom-up, negotiated approaches to enhance equitable and sustainable access, use and management of natural resources. The GreeNTD approach introduces the concept of ecological security to ensure that decision makers pay sufficient attention to the growing competition for natural resources, while enhancing the sustainable use of ecosystems and resilience of vulnerable communities. In addition to critically reviewing the different elements of the proposed framework, the meeting will explore possible synergies between GreeNTD and other governance approaches, notably, disaster risk management, the FAO Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure, and existing regional initiatives.
