Expert Group Meeting on Innovative Ways of Measuring Sustainable Development Progress

This meeting is one of a series of expert group meetings to support the preparation of the Global Sustainable Development Report 2013. The meetings are being organized to review and complete draft chapters of the report, which is expected to be finalized by September 2013. This meeting will discuss the ‘making and measuring progress' chapter, which aims to outline necessary inputs needed to achieve sustainable development, including means of implementation such as education, investment, science, technology and trade, and potential ways of measuring and monitoring progress. The chapter will include sections on input needs and market potentials; follow up on implementation of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20); and measuring and monitoring progress, including measurements beyond gross domestic product (GDP).
