This meeting is hosted by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for its member States, and humanitarian and development partners. It constitutes a second session in a rapid follow-up to the Emergency Ministerial-Level Meeting on the Drought in the Horn of Africa held on 25 July 2011. The meeting is expected to take stock of the situation, including discussions on aid pledged, actions undertaken, and the shortfalls that may exist in these key areas. The meeting will also address the root causes of the crisis and the longer-term needs of region to enhance livelihood resilience, thus building up on the work of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP).
