Organized by the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) and the Costa Rican Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Telecommunications (MINAET), the Second Latin American and Caribbean Electricity Seminar will focus on two topics: progress and potential in the deployment of “smart grids” technology in LAC; and the status and prospects in LAC for distributed generation from renewable sources such as hydro, wind, solar, biomass waste, and their impacts on distribution networks and the environment. ELEC 2012 will also discuss case studies of national and sub-regional grid interconnection.
