The eighth formal session of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Dialogue on the longer-term positioning of the UN Development System will mark the conclusion of the dialogue. The ECOSOC dialogue was called for in Resolution E/2014/14, where the Council decided to convene a transparent and inclusive dialogue involving Member States and all relevant stakeholders on the longer-term positioning of the UN development system in the context of the post-2015 development agenda. The dialogue process consists of both formal and informal sessions over an 18-month period, and its outcome is expected to be a key input to the quadrennial comprehensive policy review of operational activities for development of the UN system (QCPR), to be issued in August 2016.
