ECOSOC Dialogue on Longer-Term Positioning of UN Development System – Retreat 1

This is the first of three retreats to be organized as part of the ECOSOC Dialogue on the longer-term positioning of the UN development system. The retreat will discuss: functions in the post-2015 development agenda as well as cost and benefits of integration options; funding, including functions and types of funding as well as agency-specific and system-wide funding; governance including the functioning of governing bodies; organizational arrangements; capacity and impact; and partnership approaches. The dialogue seeks to inform the outcome of the next UN General Assembly (UNGA) resolution on the Quadrennial Comprehensive Policy Review (QCPR) – the mechanism through which the UNGA assesses the effectiveness, efficiency, coherence and impact of the UN Development system. Based on ECOSOC resolution 2014/14, it needs to take into account the post-2015 development agenda.
