e-Debate on Retooling ‘Cities for Life’: New Approaches to Urban Infrastructure and Service Provision

The conversation on ‘Retooling “Cities for Life”: New approaches to urban infrastructure and service provision' is part of three e-Debates on urban equity in development that URB.im is hosting in advance of the Seventh World Urban Forum (WUF 7), which will take place under the theme, ‘Urban Equity in Development—Cities for Life'. This discussion will consider how to promote an equity-driven approach to urban infrastructure development to ensure access to energy, housing, transportation, and water and sanitation. Participants will discuss key actors who should participate in inclusive, sustainable service delivery, including governments, the private sector, civil society and academia, and how these actors can complement and coordinate efforts. The discussion will also consider how to deliver goods while meeting goals of inclusion, justice and urban sustainability. Six panelists will participate in the discussion: Clarisse Linke, Institute for Transportation and Development Policy; Nithya Raman, Transparent Chennai; John Taylor, Yayasan Kota Kita; Charlton Ziervogel, CORC/SDI Secretariat; Wura Ladipo-Ajayi, Lagos Community Manager, URB.im; and Tariq Toffa, Cape Town and Johannesburg Community Manager, URB.im.
