Do We Need a Green Industrial Policy?

This side event will be held during the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) and is being organized by the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in cooperation with the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the World Bank, the German Development Institute, and the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. It will focus on industrial policy for greening growth, and aims to identify policies that would help industry make the transition to a more environmentally friendly path, including by improving industrial energy efficiency. The event will also include a presentation of UNIDO’s 2011 Industrial Development Report, titled “Industrial Energy Efficiency for Sustainable Wealth Creation.”
