Dialogue on Energy and Climate Change Governance

The Organization of American States (OAS), as a co-sponsor of the World Congress on Justice, Governance and Law for Environmental Sustainability, which will convene in Rio de Janeiro from 1-3 June 2012, is conducting a series of “hemispheric dialogues” on sustainable development themes intended to generate recommendations on institutions and governance for sustainable development for both the Congress and the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20). The seventh in the series will seek to generate recommendations on improving the normative framework for energy sustainability and climate change mitigation. Future dialogues will address: biodiversity; improving the environmental performance of the private sector; and risk management and emergency legislation.
