The DesertLand Conference will bring together scientists, volunteers and representatives from research and service institutions, NGOs and the private sector to discuss lessons learned from projects addressing desertification and land degradation. The conference will take stock of current scientific knowledge and current strategies of management of drylands and drought affected areas as well as in combating land degradation under different climatic conditions were water is the key issue. Strategies for the national, regional and community levels will be addressed, with an emphasis on downscaling. On 17 June 2013, the theme will be 'World Day on Combating Desertification: Water scarcity and Drought. Don't let our future dry up.' On 18 June 2013, the theme will be 'Day on Desertification and Land Degradation: Don't waste and lose your and our land'.
