This Conference is organized in follow-up to recommendations made by the FAO/ITTO/UNEP/CIFOR/IUFRO Expert Meeting on Criteria and Indicators for Sustainable Forest Management held in Rome in November 2000. CICI-2003 will be hosted by the National Forest Service of Guatemala, in cooperation with the FAO, ITTO, the US Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland. Participation will be by invitation only. Invitations will be sent to forest services and other relevant institutions; anyone interested in attending the Conference should contact their respective national forestry authority to make the necessary arrangements for being selected.
