The North American Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) will hold a workshop of officials and invited experts from Canada, Mexico and the US to examine a draft of technical guidelines for the sound management of spent lead-acid batteries (SLABs) prepared by a consultant that seek to identify operating best practices and technologies that foster environmentally sound management of SLAB collection, storage and recycling. The workshop will be followed on 30 October 2014 by a closed meeting of the CEC's Experts Group on the Sound Management of Batteries, which will also consider the draft guidelines.
