Consultation on Gender Equality in LAC: Discussion on Structural Roots of Inequality, Capacities and Participation

To respond to the issue of gender inequality, including discrimination of women and violence against women, The World We Want 2015 Website features a consultation process on gender equality in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The consultation aims to initiate an exchange of views on how the post-2015 development agenda “must include gender equality as a priority”. The consultation is divided into different discussion blocks. The second discussion comprises three sections that will be addressed simultaneously: structural roots of inequality, discrimination and violence; capacities to make choices; and participation, impact and power. It will follow a first discussion on progress and challenges for achieving gender equality in the region, and will precede another discussion on priorities and strategies to influence the agenda.
